Roasting in Ōtautahi, Aotearoa New Zealand since 2014, we are ambassadors of coffee, connecting conscious consumers with growers through value driven coffee and the stories behind it. Our mission is to source, roast, and share Better Coffee responsibly, keeping people and the planet at the forefront of every decision.
We’re a small but mighty team with strong ties to our Canterbury roots. We proudly work with a network of like-minded wholesale partners across Christchurch and wider Canterbury, while also sharing our coffee with brewers around the country.

OUR HISTORY
Coffee Embassy is proud to be locally and independently owned, founded by David Pai with the help of his long time mate Andy Norman; the pair shared an extensive background in roasting, cafe ownership and most importantly, a mutual love of coffee.
After the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes drove David out of his previous business’ premises in the city centre, he found a new spot for his cafe, at the intersection of Lichfield St & Fitzgerald Ave, inside what was once an old mechanic’s workshop. Since then, it’s become the Coffee Embassy headquarters, home to our 15kg Joper roaster, our Cellar Door coffee bar, and our Embassy team of five.

WHAT WE DO
At Coffee Embassy, we source, roast and supply high quality coffee to our family of wholesale partners across Christchurch and Canterbury, and retail beans for home and office brewing across the country. At the heart of what we do is connect our customers to what we love about coffee - variety, seasonality and experimentation, forging a link between origin and consumer. We do this all with transparency and integrity, paying respect to the hard work of the farmers we source our coffee from.
We source our coffees in line with seasonal harvests at origin, sharing with you espresso blends that change seasonally and an exciting rotation of interesting, carefully curated single origin coffees. Our Head of Coffee is always on the lookout for the next delicious coffee release, working with our importers to cup samples and carefully select the best quality coffees we can find, whilst ensuring the farmers who grow the coffees we choose are being paid fairly for their hard work.

CELLAR DOOR
Our roastery shares a space with our Cellar Door, which showcases the best of what we have to offer. You can find espresso, batch brew and a menu of pour overs expertly made by our team of baristas on top of the line equipment, complemented by a selection of cabinet items made both in-house and by some of Christchurch’s best bakeries.
